End-to-End Control of the
Temp-Sensitive Supply Chain

Count on UPS to Handle Temperature-Sensitive Meds

Endo Pharmaceuticals—the manufacturer of highly regarded medications like Percocet®—set out to become the world leader in pain management. To pull ahead in a highly competitive marketplace, Endo sought a supply chain solution that would not only keep the company in step with customer demand, but also address the many challenges associated with the temperature-sensitive storage and transportation of Endo’s controlled substances. Endo chose UPS.

Healthcare requires special care, particularly when it comes to Endo’s temperature sensitive medications. UPS helps them manage a controlled temperature environment that extends across the highly integrated UPS network of air, ocean, and ground transportation. So shipment temperature remains stable—and Endo’s fragile medicines are delivered safely.

To help Endo get more medication to market faster, UPS created a custom, highly flexible distribution system to streamline everything from order to payment. UPS compliance experts and DEA licenses ensure end-to-end adherence with the federal regulations that govern the delivery of controlled substances.

"UPS was the only company who understood our needs and how to fulfill them," said Daniel Carbery, Endo’s Senior Vice President of Operations. "We have the flexibility to scale up or down as we introduce new products and enter new markets. We could not afford to re-create such an operation on our own. And the reality is, we didn't want to."

UPS software also lets Endo automate shipping, billing and delivery status updates. Shipments and invoices go out faster, and customers are kept informed. That means happier customers who pay on time. When it comes to special care for customers, logistics makes it painless for everyone.
